PERSONAL STATEMENT

Personal statement

The experiences that shaped how I build and what I hope to do next.

01 / PERSONAL STATEMENT

A path that began with the joy of making

When I dreamed of becoming a developer, there were fewer than ten game companies in Korea, and few people wanted to make software development their career. Even so, I loved making things myself and seeing people use them. During a summer break before graduating from university, I called a company out of the blue and asked to learn on the job, even without pay. That two-month internship became my first practical experience.

Lessons from different workplaces

Since then, I have worked in many settings in Korea and Japan, from small teams still finding their footing to large organizations. I have seen projects change direction repeatedly or stop without warning. I have also watched a service fail when its operations could not keep pace with rapid user growth. These experiences taught me firsthand that reliable operations, user experience and a structure that allows a team to sustain its work matter as much as writing good code.

03 / PERSONAL STATEMENT

Experience that matters in the AI era

AI has greatly accelerated the speed at which we can write code. I believe that makes the ability to decide what to build, design the whole system and find the cause of a problem even more important. I have developed across languages and environments, from C, C++, C# and JavaScript to Python more recently, and have repeatedly experienced services growing and facing difficulties. I believe the breadth of that experience is a strength when working alongside AI.

I still learn by trying new tools myself. Recently I have been connecting Python, n8n and PostgreSQL to build automation systems, learning the parts I am less familiar with by putting them into practice.

Why I want to contribute

An interest that began with the games I loved as a child has grown to encompass software and AI. I cannot yet say that I have built a product that fully satisfies me. That is why I want to keep learning and contribute to services people continue to use for a long time. I hope the lessons from my trials and errors can help your company build and operate its services reliably.
